Netvibes has released an API which allows developers to write widgets once and deploy them on multiple platforms, says The Google Operating System blog.

Steve Rubel points to Ad Age research which he says shows that employment numbers are rising in PR at the expense of advertising. This is, he postulates, a direct response to the rise of Web 2.0 and conversation marketing. Not sure if I entirely buy that, but interesting, none the less.

Wired reports that Wikipedia will start asking contributors who claim some special status (professorship, for instance) to back up the claim. Contributors will still be able to elect to remain anonymous.

The web is now “pre-eminent”, Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger told assembled journalists at a series of off-site meetings which Jeff Jarvis has blogged. Jarvis was struck by the tone which was matter-of-fact. Rusbridger says the Guardian will be 24/7 in the near future.

Everybody now “gets it” says Jeff Jarvis, but he doesn’t really sound convinced….

Darren Rowse at Pro Blogger lists 34 reasons why people unsubscribe from a blog’s RSS feed. It’s not very scientific but quite a few of the reasons ring true and you could do worse than read and ponder them and ask yourself some searching questions.
